When your site is Joomla based, a sitemap is extremely necesssary.  By placing a formatted xml file with site map on your webserver, you enable Search Engine crawlers (like Google) to find out what pages are present and which have recently changed, and to crawl your site accordingly.

There are two great Free components you can download that will automatically create a sitemap file for you, all you have to do is select which pages you wish to appear on the sitemap.

Xmap – allows you to create a map of your site using the structure of your menus. DOWNLOAD XMAP

Joomap – is a sitemap component for Joomla that shows the normal Menu Structure, Content Categories, Sections and Virtuemart Categories in a hierarchical tree or a Google Sitemaps list. DOWNLOAD JOOMAP
